The Polish Catholic Apostolate in the archdiocese will host a POLISH PIEROGI FESTIVAL on Sat., Aug. 29, from 3-8 p.m. at ST. MARGUERITE D’YOUVILLE CHURCH, 85 Gloster Road, Lawrenceville in the parish hall. Many types of homemade pierogi will be served. There will be music and games all day and a magician from 4-5 p.m. Admission and parking are free. Food tickets are $1. Bring a blanket or lawn chair to enjoy outside events. St. Ann’s Widowed Helping Others group is holding a BAKE SALE on Sun., Aug. 30, after the 8:45 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. Masses to help CATHOLIC CHARITIES REFUGEE RESETTLEMENT PROGRAM. Homemade bread will be made and sold using a special family recipe to help raise funds and awareness of the refugees’ plight. A donation of at least $5 per loaf is requested. ST. Catholic Charities Atlanta is sponsoring a T-SHIRT DESIGN CONTEST for MIDDLE-SCHOOL ARTISTS in grades 6-8. The winning design will be featured on CCA’s eighth annual Scott’s Run T-shirt. Msgr. Gregory Ramkisoon, founder of MUSTARD SEED COMMUNITIES, will speak at Masses at the Cathedral of Christ the King, 2699 Peachtree Road, NE, Atlanta, Sept. 12-13. Mustard Seed Communities care for over 600 children and teens, abandoned, disabled, suffering from HIV/AIDS or pregnant and alone, in four nations. The second annual Atlanta Food For The Poor event, ”SEEDS OF HOPE,” will be held Fri., Sept. 18, from 6:30-10:30 p.m. at the W ATLANTA-BUCKHEAD, 3377 Peachtree Road, NE, Atlanta. Event proceeds will provide boats and other equipment to establish a Haitian fishing village where residents will be able to sustain themselves. Radio hosts from 104.7 FM The FISH will act as masters of ceremony. The evening will feature Chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten’s contemporary cuisine, live music, dancing and silent auction. AMIGOS FOR CHRIST invites parishes and service organizations to be a part of its “CELEBRATE SERVICE!” MUSIC FESTIVAL on Sat., Sept. 26, at Suwanee Town Center Park. Christian artists Fee, Matt Maher and Shae Laurel will perform and there will be games, food and fellowship. Youth groups or missions can raise funds for their activities by participating in Strides for Strength 5-K, Pedal for the Poor Bike Ride, Hoops for the Hungry 3 v. 3 Basketball Tournament or the Great Salsa-Making Showdown. The EIGHTH ANNUAL SCOTT’S RUN, a 5K run and one-mile fun walk event sponsored by Catholic Charities Atlanta, will be held Sat., Oct. 3, at Chastain Park at 9 a.m. Registration starts at 7 a.m. The memorial fundraiser benefits CATHOLIC CHARITIES’ CHILDREN’S PROGRAMS in honor of the late Scott Starratt and his compassion for foreign children in need. It will be fun for the whole family, for Life Teen groups and all parish members. Cost is $20 for runners and walkers and $30 for phantom runners.
